I'm walking on teflon whoa...

... and don't it feel good!

So the wife got me super fancy professional curling shoes for V-day. Appearently I'm taking way too long getting setup when I'm playing matches and she thought having real curling shoes would help speed me up.

Curling Shoes

What makes them curling shoes? Well, instead of a normal rubber bottom, each shoe has two circular velcro areas. On the right shoe you get little rubber attachments that velcro on to the shoe so it acts like a normal shoe and grips the ice, as well as could be expected. For the left shoe you get teflon disks to velcro on. This is the shoe you 'slide' on when throwing the stone. You can see the teflon disks clearly in the picture. Not shown is the cute little rubber booty that slips over the bottom of the left shoe, to protect the teflon when you are not on the ice.

Pano-tastical!

I found an open source program that helps me make panoramas from multiple snapshots. Here's a roughly 90 degree angle view of part of the house and the street its on, taken from the end of the driveway.
House Panorama
This was sort of a practise attempt at doing a panoramic with our camera and tripod. I'm going to redo a shot of the hous again soon, in the morning, so I can get the whole house in a shot without the sun being directly in view.

Ice Sculptures at UAF

For a cheap date this evening, we photographed ice sculptures at UAF. Hand warmers and long underwear were a necessity.

As you might have inferred, the UAF mascot is a polar bear. Posted by Picasa
