In the ladies division, the rink I was on came in 4th in the A event. (In the interest of full disclosure, there were under ten rinks, so this is not as impressive at it might seem.) But I still won a pin and was able to pick from the prize table. Jef, competing in the more abundant men's division of 30+ rinks, did not place, however his rink (Rudig) did earn a mention in the local paper.

Bonspiel!
The last event of the Fairbanks curling season was the 72nd International Bonspiel, which consists of 3.5 days of curling around the clock. I was spared the 1 AM matches, but Jef was not so fortunate. In the registration packet were a few tablets of ibuprofen, and I laughed. By Saturday night I was not laughing.

Mush!
I went dog mushing, and it was incredibly cool. As some might know, I have what might be termed dog anxiety, and I never thought that I would walk into a dog yard with thirty dogs, be cool as a cucumber about it and walk up and pet and harness the dogs. The dogs were very sweet, and they really love to run. They're also big goofballs -- if left to their own devices in the traces they quickly tangle into a big ball.
